- Do I need to code anything to set up a Discord bot?
- No. You create a Discord application in the Developer Portal, paste the bot token, Application ID, and Public Key into Chatloom, then paste the Interactions Endpoint URL we generate back into the portal. No coding, no server hosting, no gateway process to keep alive.
- How do members talk to the bot?
- With the /ask slash command — for example, /ask how do I reset my password. Chatloom's Discord bot answers slash-command interactions only. It does not read ordinary channel messages, so it never jumps into a conversation it was not asked about.
- Can AI create a Discord server for me?
- Creating the server itself happens in Discord and takes a few clicks, free of charge. What an AI maker like Chatloom adds is the part that keeps a server alive: a bot that knows your product or project and answers member questions from your knowledge base whenever someone runs /ask, so your community gets real help even when no moderator is online.
- Is it free to make an AI Discord bot?
- Discord charges nothing for creating a bot application in the Developer Portal. On the Chatloom side, the Discord channel is included on every plan, the free one too. Plans differ only in the monthly volume of AI-answered messages, so you can build the bot, invite it to your server, and test it with real questions before paying anything.
- Can I create custom slash commands like /faq or /docs?
- Not today. Chatloom registers a single command, /ask, which takes any question as free text — so there is nothing to set up per topic. Custom command names are not supported.
- Can the bot be limited to specific channels?
- There is no channel allowlist inside Chatloom. In practice the bot is silent everywhere until someone runs /ask, and you control where and by whom the command can be used in Discord's own Server Settings → Integrations, together with the channel permissions you grant the bot when you invite it.
- Can the bot handle multiple Discord servers?
- Yes. /ask is registered globally for your bot application, so one Chatloom agent answers in every server you invite the bot to. Those servers share the same knowledge base and the same response rules — there is no per-server configuration.
- Does it work in threads?
- The answer is posted wherever the /ask was run, threads included, and the bot remembers that member's earlier questions in the same channel. It does not read the surrounding thread history, and it does not create threads of its own.
- Is there a limit on Discord messages?
- Discord's own rate limits are handled automatically, and Chatloom applies a per-agent cap on incoming interactions to protect your quota. Your Chatloom subscription plan determines the total AI-processed message volume across all channels.
